The Maryland State House is the oldest government building of its kind still receiving legislative action. Built in the 1700s, it is chock full of rare paintings and portraits, beautiful historic rooms like the Old Senate Chamber, and invaluable artifacts like the magnificent USS Maryland Silver Service found in the fittingly named Silver Room. Guided tours are available of the State House, which lies downtown, just north of Anne Arundel Medical Center.
